Support Us
Thank for your interest in supporting the Boston Schoolyard Initiative! We depend on the generosity of foundations, corporations, donors, partners, and volunteers—people and organizations that believe in our work, support our mission, and invest in our success.
Top Six Reasons to Support the Boston Schoolyard Initiative
Vibrant Boston schoolyards: Your contribution will help us transform asphalt schoolyard lots in some of the most distressed neighborhoods in Boston, and attain our goal of reaching every elementary and K-8 schoolyard in the BPS system.
Active, Healthier Kids: Principals report that the number one benefit of renovated schoolyards is increased physical activity for their students. With your support, we can provide creative recreation spaces, and play a role in improving the health of Boston's children.
Engaged Students and Independent Learners: BSI helps teachers take learning outdoors, increasing interest in science, improving vocabulary and creating independent learners. Your contribution will allow us to continue to develop our education partnership with Boston Public Schools, and build a model that other urban school systems can use.
Stronger Communities: BSI schoolyards engage communities, revitalize neighborhoods and create stronger school-community relationships. Your contribution adds green to urban neighborhoods, provides recreation opportunities to all of Boston's children, and creates dynamic spaces for community life.
Nature Just Outside the School Door: Urban kids have less and less access to nature. BSI has pioneered the concept of urban Outdoor Classrooms on BPS schoolyards, and has been including outdoor classrooms, with meadows, sample woodlands and planting beds, in every schoolyard renovation since 2007. You can help us bring nature to kids – right in their urban schoolyard.
Smiling Children: You can tell you've succeeded by smiles on the faces of children who use and love their new schoolyards. There is no better reward.
